AMC Networks wanted to explore a new offering that combined select premium titles from their family of brands, and target younger audiences with a first for the company—a direct-to-consumer offering. After months of brand development, a proof-of-concept partnership with Huge, and months of senior stakeholder meetings going through the new product, AMC+ was born.

Once the POC was established and internal stakeholders were bought in, product requirements were written, UX flows were aligned on, and UI was defined for all web, app and TV platforms. A robust series of Figma component libraries were created for each platform’s design system, along with motion language definition. Our libraries cemented visual elements of colors, typography and iconography, as well as functional paradigms for purchase, video playback, browsing and live TV.

AMC+ launched in August 2021 across web, app and TV platforms to users across the United States, in partnership with Verizon. We also appeared through Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV channels, followed by Sling TV and YouTube TV. Over the following few months, AMC+ rolled out to Canada, European and AMEA regions.
